Just for me

It's my time!

Now that you have time for yourself...

  • Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize!
  • Clear your calendar of unnecessary tasks. It is not your responsibility to run the world.
  • Make a prioritized task list for each day if necessary or reserve it for days that have a lot going on. Prioritize items on list.
  • Make prioritized task lists realistic. No one is asking you to be a super-time-hero!
  • Multitasking does not mean you are getting more done. You are just getting more distracted!
  • Avoid constant email checking. Set aside specific times to check email and/or to respond.
  • Leave a little time for yourself EVERY DAY! You cannot afford to avoid this one.
  • Middle of the road is the way to go. If you are too rigid with time, schedule in some fun. Slowly learn to become more flexible. If you are all play and no work, schedule time to take care of things that need to get done. Slowly learn to take care of important things.
  • Learn what things are distractions for you. Set up distraction-free time to complete necessary tasks or projects.
  • Use a calendar. Benefits far outweigh any time spent updating it.
  • Look at your calendar at least a week at a time. Schedule bigger items first, then fill in extra time with the smaller things.
  • When you are out and about, group like errands to avoid additional time spent backtracking around town. Plan ahead. Make a list of what you need to do and spend a few minutes planning your route. Avoid impulse stops – they are big time eaters!
  • Break a project up into smaller phases or chunks. This develops motivation to continue.
